Doulas come together
to advocate for birthing families in Michigan

We are doulas in Michigan who have assembled a statewide coalition to advocate for the the families we serve and for the advancement and protection of our profession.

Our meetings and online group are a place to talk about what matters most to you; in your practice, for your families and for birthing people across Michigan and to organize/rally for legislative action.

Topics of discussion include supporting one another in the field and in the profession, challenges and barriers in birth work, improving maternal and infant health outcomes, pursuit of compensation through private and public insurance, and more.

Doulas - both private and community-based - must have a collective voice in our state, and MiDC was formed for this reason.  We are making our seat at the table to participate in discussions with state leaders and medical organizations about how to truly improve maternity care in Michigan.
